Continuing the Call of Duty: Service Dog in training 'Logan' Honors Late Firefighter's Dedication

In Memory of Captain Anderson, Logan

New Life K9s, welcomed a special addition to their program in June of 2024 —a yellow Labrador named Logan was the newest recruit sponsored by the Anderson Family. This heartfelt tribute honors the late Captain Logan Anderson, a devoted firefighter who served the El Dorado Hills community for over 33 years. Captain Anderson's brother, Gary, and sister-in-law, Cathy, generously sponsored Logan in his memory, ensuring that his legacy of service and love for dogs continues to make a positive impact.

Captain Anderson's dedication to public service was paralleled only by his affection for his canine companions. "The loves of Logan’s life were his yellow labs and golden retrievers," shared Gary Anderson. "Wherever Logan went following his retirement, he was accompanied by one or more of his tail-wagging best friends." In a touching final request, Captain Anderson asked that pictures of each of his dogs be buried with him, symbolizing the deep bond he shared with them.

Logan, the service dog in training, is currently undergoing preparation at the California Men's Colony.

Despite being early in his training, Logan has already begun to make a difference among the incarcerated individuals involved in the program. His presence brings a sense of purpose and rehabilitation, fostering a positive environment for both the trainers and the future recipients of his service.

The community's support is crucial in sustaining the mission of New Life K9s. By providing service dogs like Logan to those in need, the organization not only honors the memory of heroes like Captain Anderson but also offers hope and healing to veterans and first responders facing challenges. Contributions and involvement from the community ensure that these life-changing partnerships continue to thrive, embodying the spirit of service and companionship that Captain Anderson cherished throughout his life.
